Why do I want to help Lava Mae?

The answer is quite simple.  I have always wanted to do good things with my music.  Yes, I want to spread a positive message and create something people relate to when they hear my music, but I have had a burning desire to do more for those in need.  I have been very very  fortunate in my life.  My parents gave me money as a kid, paid for my school, and provided a roof for me to live under.  All of these things, and more have provided me unlimited opportunities in this world.  There are countless amounts of people in the world who couldn’t even imagine living the life I have been gifted with.  Yea, I had my ups and downs, but when you look at things in the big picture, everything has been just fine and dandy.

When I returned back to Romania, I brought up my idea of giving through music to my girlfriend at the time, and she loved it.  We chatted about different NGO’s and organizations we would like to help.  She informed me of Lava Mae.  I was immediately sold and wanted to help this organization.  Thanks, Ioana for the tip!  Lava Mae is a non-profit that helps those without homes in California, they do this in many ways.  I can relate to this a bit.  I was never homeless, but I was living on the road for about 9 months.  Some nights we’d sleep in the mini van, other nights we would camp.  These circumstances were luxury compared to those that only have the clothes on their back.  Throughout my travels I met some amazing people.  Some of the humblest were those that did not have homes and were forced to live on the street.  It is amazing to see someone with nothing try and help someone who seems to have everything.  That is humanity.  I want to help those people with my music.

About Lava Mae

Lava Mae is an award-winning San Francisco-based nonprofit that delivers mobile hygiene and other critical services to our unhoused neighbors across San Francisco, Oakland and Los Angeles.

Since first launching our mobile shower service in 2014, we’ve delivered 58,000+ showers to 15,000+ Californians, making headlines around the world for our innovative approach to helping our house-less neighbors rekindle dignity, restore health + well-being and unlock the opportunities that come with being clean.
While people experiencing homelessness rely on Lava Mae to get clean for job interviews, and to keep their current jobs, we’ve become much more than a shower to our grateful guests. We’re a safe, reliable, trusted community where our guests come for companionship as much as for hygiene. That’s because we treat every guest with an unexpected level of care and personal attention we call Radical Hospitality.
That’s the key to Lava Mae’s success, and why we’ve been honored by everyone from CNN Heroes to the James Irvine Leadership Awards, and received thousands of requests for our mobile shower service from cities  around the world.
We’re also gratified to have inspired 100+ new mobile shower programs modeled after ours, and we’re working hard to train and support new mobile hygiene providers across the U.S. and all over the globe.
